كندا لايف – أعلن عملاق صناعة السيارات الألماني ’’فولكسفاغن‘‘ أنّ شركته الفرعية ’’باوِر كو‘‘ (PowerCo) ستبني مصنعاً لبطاريات السيارات الكهربائية في سانت توماس، جنوب شرق لندن، في جنوب غرب مقاطعة أونتاريو.
وسيكون هذا أول مصنع لها للبطاريات خارج أوروبا، في محاولة منها لتسريع وتيرة التوسع في السوق الأميركية الرئيسية.
يُرتقب أن يبدأ المصنع الإنتاج في عام 2027، حسبما أفادت أكبر شركة لصناعة السيارات في أوروبا يوم الإثنين.
قرار اختيار موقع المصنع في كندا، وسط الحوافز الكبيرة المقدمة في الولايات المتحدة بموجب قانون خفض التضخم، من شأنه أن يساعد فولكس فاجن على الوصول إلى المواد الخام الرئيسية والطاقة النظيفة
