كندا لايف – قال محامو العائلات إن الحكومة الفيدرالية تمضي قدماً في إعادة 19 امرأة وطفل كنديين محتجزين في شمال شرق سوريا.
طلب أفراد عائلات 23 كنديًا محتجزًا – ست نساء وأربعة رجال و 13 طفلاً – من المحكمة الفيدرالية أن تأمر الحكومة بترتيب عودتهم. وكانوا قد جادلوا بأن رفض القيام بذلك ينتهك حقوق ميثاقهم.
قال لورنس جرينسبون، محامي المتقدمين لـ CBC إنه تم التوصل إلى اتفاق لتأمين الإفراج عن النساء والأطفال وعودتهم. وأعلن إن قضية الرجال الأربعة ما زالت معروضة على المحكمة.
وقالت وثيقة تم رفعها في القضية أمام المحكمة في ديسمبر / كانون الأول إن جلوبال أفيرز كندا بدأت بالفعل النظر في إعادة التسعة عشر كنديًا.
ذكرت الوثيقة أنهم قد استوفوا العتبة بموجب إطار سياسة الحكومة لشهر يناير 2021 لتقديم مساعدة استثنائية.
ولم يتم الكشف عن اسماء النساء والاطفال.
عاد عدد قليل من النساء والأطفال إلى كندا من المنطقة في السنوات الأخيرة. لكن بالنسبة للجزء الأكبر، لم تتبع كندا مسار البلدان الأخرى التي أعادت مواطنيها بنجاح.
