قامت شركة Hudson’s Bay بتسريح أكثر من 600 موظف في جميع أنحاء كندا بشكل دائم وسط إغلاق المتاجر المستمر بسبب عمليات الإغلاق COVID-19.
قال تيفاني بوري، المتحدث باسم بائع التجزئة الشهير, إن ما يقرب من نصف متاجر الشركة لا تزال مغلقة مؤقتًا.
“لا يزال الوباء يؤثر بشكل كبير على تجار التجزئة غير الأساسيين”.
“بسبب هذه الظروف الخارجة عن إرادتنا، اضطرت الشركة إلى إجراء تعديلات أدت إلى انخفاض القوة العاملة.”
وأضاف بوري إن عمليات التسريح الدائمة تمثل أقل من خمسة في المائة من إجمالي القوة العاملة في الشركة.
وقال أنه كان “قرارًا صعبًا للغاية” وأن شركة ملتزمة بمعاملة كل فرد يتأثر بإنصاف واحترام خلال هذه الأوقات الصعبة.
في الشهر الماضي، طلبت شركة Hudson’s Bay من محكمة العدل العليا في أونتاريو مراجعة قرار حكومة المقاطعة بإغلاق تجار التجزئة غير الأساسيين مؤقتًا.
وردت المحكمة العدل: إن لوائح المقاطعة لا تميز “بشكل عقلاني” بين Hudson’s Bay وبعض تجار التجزئة ذوي “المحلات الكبيرة” والتاجر الذين يُسمح لهم بالبقاء محلاتهم مفتوحة.
ورفضت المحكمة محاولة الشركة لتعديل قاعدة إغلاق التجزئة في أونتاريو لكنها تساءلت عما أسمته “الحكمة والفعالية” لإجراءات الإغلاق في المقاطعة.
وقالت المحكمة في قرارها في السماح للمتاجر الكبيرة التي تبيع البقالة بالبقاء مفتوحة بالكامل مما قد يؤدي إلى زيادة حركة مرور العملاء.
