كندا لايف – أكدت الصحة العامة في نياجرا أونتاريو أن 23 شخصًا نقلوا إلى المستشفى في سانت كاثرين عقب حادث خطير في مكان العمل يوم الثلاثاء.
وفقًا للسلطات، وقع الحادث حوالي الساعة 10:30 صباحآ في مصنع THK Rhythm Automotive في شارع لاوث ومنطقة ريدلي رود.
أخبر ديف أبر، رئيس قسم مكافحة الحرائق في سانت كاثرينز أن أحد المقاولين كان يعمل وأصاب بطريق الخطأ االصمام، مما أدى إلى إطلاق خمسة لترات من حمض الهيدروكلوريك.
واضاف إن الحمض تحول إلى بخار وكان ثلاثة أشخاص في الجوار. وقال إنهم تمكنوا من إغلاق الصمام، لكنهم تعرضوا للأبخرة.
واشار المسؤولون في مكان الحادث إن حوالي 20 شخصًا آخرين تعرضوا
لـ الإصابات, وتم استخدام حمامات تطهير. تم نقل معظمهم إلى المستشفى بالحافلة.
وكان بعضهم تعرض للمواد الكيماوية بشكل خفيف ولكن تم نُقل العشرون شخصًا الآخرون إلى المستشفى كإجراء احترازي.
وقال “هذه المادة الكيميائية عادة ما تسبب حروقا للجهاز التنفسي والجلد إذا تعرضت بشدة، لا نعتقد أن لديهم هذا التشبع الثقيل.”
وأكد الرقيب بريس برونارسكي أن المسعفين نقلوا تسعة أشخاص إلى المستشفى مع تعرض بسيط، بينما ذهب 10 أشخاص آخرين بدون أعراض مع تعرض محدود للتسرب إلى المستشفى بالحافلة.
الساعة 1:30 بعد ظهر يوم الثلاثاء أكدت الصحة العامة في نياجرا أن قسم الطوارئ في موقع سانت كاثرينز قد أعيد إلى عملياته الطبيعية، وبدأت في التراجع عن الاستجابة لحادث المواد الخطرة.
وأكدت وكالة الصحة أنه تم تقييم جميع المرضى، ومن المتوقع خروجهم جميعًا في وقت ما اليوم.
