يبدو أن الحكومة الفيدرالية عازمة على تنفيذ قيود سفر جديدة لأنها تحاول منع ارتفاع COVID-19 حيث تظهر المزيد من حالات سلالة الفيروس المتغيرة شديدة العدوى في جميع أنحاء البلاد.
رئيس الوزراء جاستن ترودو يقول إن حكومته لن تتردد في تشديد القيود على حدودنا وإنه سيتم الإعلان عن ذلك في الأيام المقبلة.
قال ترودو الثلاثاء: “عندما يتعلق الأمر بحمايتك أنت وعائلتك، لا يوجد شيء غير مطروح على الطاولة”.
لم يخض رئيس الوزراء في التفاصيل لكنه أشار إلى أنه يتعين على الحكومة توخي الحذر للتأكد من أن أي قيود على السفر غير الضروري لا تؤثر عن غير قصد على سلاسل التوريد لدينا، مشيرًا إلى أن العديد من طائرات الركاب تحمل بضائع تجارية.
وأضاف ترودو: “تأتي الغالبية العظمى من جميع الحالات في كندا من سفر الأشخاص خارج البلاد ولكن الإصابات الأكبر هي من خلال العدوى داخل المجتمع.
“ونحن نتطلع إلى المزيد من القيود المفروضة على السفر. والتي ندرسها بعناية شديدة للتأكد من أنهم الأشخاص المناسبون. وأنهم فعالون. وأنهم يحافظون على سلامة الكنديين.”
