كندا لايف – رفع بنك كندا المركزي سعر الفائدة القياسي بأكبر مبلغ منذ أكثر من 20 عامًا يوم الأربعاء، مما أدى إلى زيادة حادة في تكلفة الاقتراض في محاولة لكبح جماح التضخم الجامح.
رفع البنك المركزي الكندي سعر الفائدة القياسي بنقطة مئوية كاملة إلى 2.5 في المائة. هذه أكبر زيادة لمرة واحدة في سعر البنك منذ عام 1998.
يؤثر سعر البنك على المعدل الذي يحصل عليه الكنديون من مقرضيهم على أشياء مثل الرهون العقارية وخطوط الائتمان.
بعد خفض سعره إلى مستويات قياسية في بداية الوباء، رفع البنك سعره الآن أربع مرات منذ مارس كجزء من حملة شرسة لمحاربة التضخم.
يخفض البنك المركزي سعر الإقراض عندما يريد تحفيز الاقتصاد من خلال تشجيع الناس على الاقتراض والاستثمار. وهو يرفع المعدلات عندما يريد تهدئة الاقتصاد المحموم.
ومن المتوقع أن يتم رفع أسعار الفائدة في الأشهر المقبلة.
