وأضافت أن “هذه الاتفاقية ستجلب الاستقرار لقطاع الطاقة المتجددة لدينا وتعزز القدرة التنافسية لأمريكا الشمالية، إنه اعتراف واضح بمكانة كندا كقائدة في الكفاح ضد تغير المناخ”
وكانت نج قد التقت مع الممثلة التجارية الأمريكية كاثرين تاي ووزيرة الاقتصاد المكسيكي تاتيانا كلاوثير كاريلو في فانكوفر في اجتماع لجنة التجارة الحرة.
يُشار إلى أن ترامب كان قد فرض الرسوم الجمركية في عام 2018، وقالت الحكومة الكندية إن صادرات منتجات الطاقة الشمسية إلى الولايات المتحدة تراجعت بنسبة تصل إلى 82 بالمائة منذ ذلك الحين.
وفي فبراير الماضي وجدت لجنة تسوية المنازعات أنه بإبقاء الصادرات الكندية خاضعة لما يسمى بـ “تدابير الحماية” فإن الولايات المتحدة تنتهك التزاماتها بموجب اتفاقية الولايات المتحدة والمكسيك وكندا.
